Bursaries, grants, and awards
Summer IGA: Are you a Faculty of Music undergraduate student? Are you looking for financial aid for an individual endeavour related to your professional development as musician, such as a fall program, co-curricular performance, or other music-related initiative? The FMUA understands the importance of these initiatives, but we also recognize the high costs associated with them. Did you know the FMUA has set up an Individual Grants Application program that can help offset some of the costs associated with these initiatives? Check out the application form and guidelines to see if you qualify for the bursaries!
Summer Application Deadline: Friday June 26 @ 11:59 PM
The Instrument Repair Fund is designed to help students keep their instruments performance-ready throughout the school year. The FMUA recognizes how important a reliable instrument is for lessons, rehearsals, juries, and performances, and wants to help ease the financial burden of unexpected major repairs. The fund supports repairs costing over $300 CAD (with a $1,500 maximum) that are necessary to restore an instrument to playable condition. Applications over the maximum are subject to the approval of the BGA Committee. Students may submit one application per fiscal year. Please note that routine maintenance and consumable items — such as strings, reeds, mouthpieces, mutes, and piano tuning — are not eligible for reimbursement.
Applications are received on a rolling basis.
The Special Project Fund (SPF) supports initiatives that benefit at least two current undergraduate members of the Association. Managed by the Vice-President Finance and approved by the Bursaries, Grants and Awards Committee, the SPF is funded by the Special Project Fund fee. Eligible applicants must submit a proposal outlining the project’s purpose, budget, and timeline. All proposals are shared with the membership for at least two weeks before a decision is made. Approved projects are made public. Recipients must submit itemized expense reports with receipts. The Committee oversees compliance with all SPF policies.
Applications are received on a rolling basis.
